God's Auto Repair II
After many years of faithfully serving me, my 1998 Nissan Frontier started making a horrible noise. Honestly I have never heard a noise like this from any vehicle. It would suddenly start squealing extremely loud. I noticed that when I put my clutch in the noise would be affected. Knowing something about cars I guessed that it was the throw-out bearing in the clutch. So what did I do? Did I rush down to the auto shop and desperately spend my hard earned money? Nope. I did what Jesus did. I spoke to it and commanded it to stop.
Now I have been speaking to my truck ever since I got it back in 1998. I would always pat the truck on the dashboard and tell it what a great truck it was. I told it how it worked hard to provide me with great service. I told it that it would be around for a long time and that I was planning to keep it a long time. I would speak to it and reassure it that it was in great shape. I would tell it that it's engine, transmission, brakes, etc. were working just fine and they would continue to work fine for years to come. I would tell it not to give me any trouble and I would take care of it by using the best oil there is, Mobil 1, and I did. And you know what? It did exactly as I told it. It never gave me any trouble. When I traded it in for another Nissan Frontier it had 250,000 miles on it. It still had the original water hoses, starter motor, water pump, thermostat, etc. It never gave me any trouble. It obeyed me. Now it was making this horrible noise.
I just did what I always did. I spoke to it saying, "Hey now, you don't need to act like that, come on straighten up." or "You are fine, there's nothing wrong with you so stop complaining." This went on for about three or four weeks almost every other day. And then I noticed that it had been several weeks since it made that noise. It simply stopped just as I told it to do. I had forgotten all about it and one day it made that noise again just briefly. I said, "Hey I thought we had taken care of that now, stop doing that." It never made that noise again.
Did you know that as a believer in Christ you are lord over things on the earth? You have been given authority over them and they have been placed under your feet? It's true. So why not use your authority to fix stuff, heal people, stop bad stuff from happening. Go on, I dare you! God says...
Death and life are in the power of your tongue. Proverbs 18:21
You shall have whatever you say. Mark 11:23
You overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the words of your confession. (whatever you say) Rev. 12:11
So stop criticizing things. They become as you say! Instead, say how you want it to be and it shall be that way! God says so...and so can you.
